THQ have announced that they’re bringing an extended demo of Darksiders to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The demo will take around an hour and a half to complete and should more than satisfy those who are still undecided on the game.

David Adams, General Manager of Vigil Games commented: “We are really pumped to be bringing a playable demo for Darksiders to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. We really wanted to give gamers a true idea of the variety of gameplay that the game offers and so rather than just making a standard 20-minute demo version of the first few levels.”

The demo goes live Feb 25th on Xbox LIVE and on the PlayStation Store.

It’s been a long time coming but now the UK is getting their own version of Qore, First Play.

Coming from the guys at the Official PlayStation Magazine, First Play will be available on a weekly basis costing 99p per episode or £8.99 for a three-month subscription.

The service will roll out in March in the UK with more regions to follow if the launch is successful. First Play will offer Beta access, video reviews, downloadable content and much more, with content from the store being availbable exclusively early to First Play subscribers.

With an install base of over 3 million in the UK, SCEE are highly optimistic about the service, “As PlayStation 3 moves the gaming experience to a more social and competitive online environment through the PlayStation Network, so it becomes critical that we’re offering gamers the very best content and services through this channel,” said Ray Maguire.

Potential Pricing for PlayStation Network Detailed

Posted in PlayStation 3, PlayStation Network, PlayStation Store with tags on December 18, 2009 by James Love

Details of a potential premium service for Sony’s PSN today were given to Kotaku in the form of a survey from IPSOS Online Research, which ranges from $50 a month to potentially $70 a year.

The sorts of bonuses offered by the hypothetical service includes hour long trails of games from the PS Store, free access to range of PSOne Classics, and cross-game voice chat.

The survey also included the following block of text:

“Sony is considering offering a premium PlayStation Network subscription in the future. The subscription offering would provide new premium features you could choose to pay for and are in addition to the features currently available for free such as access to online multiplayer gaming (current features would remain free).”

Other features mentioned are an extended warranty, early beta access and cloud-based storage.

Digital Comics (Including Manga) May Be Headed To PS3

Posted in PlayStation 3, PlayStation Store with tags , , on December 16, 2009 by Chris Hawke

Today, in North America, the Digital Comics service for the PSP was rolled out, allowing owners of the handheld to download and read comics via the PSP PSN Store. Big deal, right? Well, if you own a PS3 and want a piece of the comic book action, then there might be a Christmas treat for you.

On the Playstation US Blog, Grace Chen replied to a question asking whether the comics would be available to transfer to PS3;

“Currently, there’s no reader on the PS3 to view the digital comics. But we are always exploring options to bring features to both the PS3 and PSP platforms. We work closely with the publishers to bring new and older comics to PSN.”

So, hopefully, a PS3 Comic reader will available soon, and users will be able to thumb through Spiderman via their Dualshock 3 at their leisure. She also reveals that Manga will probably be on its way soon. There’s a screenshot of the replies after the jump, and we’ve already sent off a volley of e-mails asking them to add Graphics Novels. No need to thank us.
