Bethseda dev: Natal “wasted on games”

Posted in Bethesda, Project Natal, Xbox 360 with tags on May 20, 2010 by James Love

Bethseda developer Ashley Cheng has written on his blog that he believes Project Natal “seems wasted on games.”

Cheng went on to say that “Microsoft should open the Natal API up like Apple does with the iPhone/iPad” and by letting anyone make an app for Natal he can see “a killer app that has nothing to do with gaming” coming from it.

Microsoft Saudi marketing manager Syed Bilal Tariq earlier announced that Natal would see an October release.

The company told us that it was the only console this year to see a YoY growth increase across the three territories.

The news comes as the company also announced tonight that the new dashboard featuring Twitter, Last.fm and Facebook will be publically released as of next Tuesday. A slight hardware push might have occurred this week also, with the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

“Reinventing entertainment through, play, watch, connect and share. This is the vision that we have for Xbox 360 and today that vision is the reality for 10 million Xbox owners.
