New FFXIII TV Ad Shows New CG Goodness

Look. It’s a new Final Fantasy XIII TV ad from Japan!

The ad shows thirty seconds worth of CG stuff from the game, both old and new.

Watch after the break. Game is out in Japan on Thursday. No Western release until March 2010.

CONFIRMED: Final Fantasy XIII Scores 39/40 in Famitsu

GOONL!NE can confirm that Final Fantasy XIII has been given a 39/40 in the latest Famitsu. It was rumored earlier.

As our friends at UFFF points out, it’s scored more then FFIX, FFVII, FFVIII, which scored 38. It ties with FFX on the 39, but narrowly misses out on the 40, which FFXII managed a couple of years ago.

UFFF also translated some early quotes from the review:

“The story is substantial like no FF before it” and “battles based around changing characters’ roles are fresh and highly strategic.”

“You’ll be sorry if you don’t play this!”

Scan is after the break. The game is out next week in Japan.

RUMOR: Famitsu Gives Final Fantasy XIII 39/40

This is unconfirmed at this time, but according to HKGolden, Famitsu has given Final Fantasy XIII a 39/40.

It got a 10/9/10/10 from the reviewers, although this is unconfirmed at this time. Famitsu does get released out of terrortories outside of Japan, like Hong Kong and China. But the magazine, which did use to launch on a Tuesday until earlier this year in August, now gets a Friday release.

We will have to see the issue in questions before confirming it. We’ll be here all this week for if and when they leak the scans of the review before the public release.

Announcing the Final Fantasy XIII Launch Portal!

Ever since I launched GOONL!NE nearly two years ago, we have covered so many games between it’s reveal and it’s release. And while we may not have been there for it’s intital reveal at E306, the one game we have covered over 200 times, be that in it’s own articles or just mentioned in another article for another, is Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIII.

FFXIII EU Boxart Revealed

Square’s released the EU boxart of Final Fantasy XIII for PS3 ands 360.

It’s the first time a Final Fantasy cover has something other then the logo on the front, with Lightning appearing on it.

Second FFXIII Commercial Hits the Web

Final Fantasy XIII is close.

Very close. As in so close, you can smell it’s new game smell from this distance. The bad news is that it’s for Japan.

It hits on December 17, and already the TV commericals are already hitting the TV screens. The first one you can find here from our friends at UFFS, but the second you can find here after the jump.

In it, it shows a school class and its teacher. The teacher (we think) says he’s going to be taking the day off tomorrow, with the class asking why. The teacher says in his head (again, we think) he’s been waiting for this for three years. Obviously for the game, innit.

Look! Cactuars in Final Fantasy XIII!

The latest Shonen Jump scans have just come out onto the internet, which show Final Fantasy XIII in the latest issue.

But look closely. Look, Cactuars are in the game! The scans show as such.

New Final Fantasy XIII Screens Released

Some new direct-feed shots of Final Fantasy XIII has been released by Square Enix, via Famitsu. They appear to be the screens from the released scans from this week’s issue of the magazine. They do mostly show Hope, Chocobos and Vanille riding on one. That doesn’t sound right, does it?

The game is out in Japan on December 17th for the PlayStation 3. Square confirmed yesterday that the game will release in the West in an EU-US sim-ship, for the PS3 and Xbox 360, on Tuesday March 9th 2010.

Leona Lewis Picked to Sing English Theme for Final Fantasy XIII

There is a headline I never thought I’d be writing. Square Enix has announced that they have picked the winner of the X Factor 2006 Leona Lewis to sing the English theme tune of Final Fantasy XIII.

The song is titled My Hands, from her antcipated second album Echo.

Square Enix’s US CEO John Yamamoto made the announcement at the end of the video just released, which we are uploading for you to view right now.

The game was just announced for a March 9th 2010 release.
