Konami ID’s to Be Scrapped

Posted in PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 with tags , , , , , on July 7, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

pes-2010Fed up of Konami ID’s? Well, be fed up no more, the ID’s are gone, starting with the release of Pro Evolution Soccer 2010.

Konami state that it is too late to do anything in past games released, biggest example would be Metal Gear Online. However, speaking to French gaming site Gamekyo, Konami say that they will get rid of the system with this year’s annual PES release for PS3 and 360.

Although, as far as we know, the 360 doesnt really use ID’s for Konami games, just Xbox Live where as the PS3 does, but we’ve only seen it in MGO. But anyways, its gone, and now, there will be only PSN’s and XBL GT’s to use for Metal Gear Solid: Rising’s online (if there is online for Rising)

Kojima: Castlevania Involvement is for “support”

Posted in PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 with tags , , , , , on July 1, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

kojimaHideo Kojima has spoken out in this week’s Famitsu (via 1UP) on his involvement with Castlevania: Lords of  Shadow.

The game, revealed to be a Castlevania game at E3 and one of the 3 myserious games the Kojima Productions head teased about before the show alongside two new Metal Gear Solid games in Rising and Peace Walker,  isnt in development at Kojima Productions and is actually being done by MercuryStream for the PS3 and 360, but Koj does insist that his studio are playing a “support role”.

Kojima Productions is playing more of a support role. Castlevania is one of Konami’s most important brands, one that’s seen many releases since the original, and they’ve all been received warmly, but there’s never been a Castlevania created to really satisfy Western gamers. People like Dave [Cox, game’s producer] were influenced by Castlevania to become game designers, and now they’re making titles like God of War. This has become a big project, one with the idea that we needed to make a Castlevania which had that same kind of feverish Western support, and that’s why Kojima Productions came in to help.

It’s out next year.

RUMOR: Metal Gear Solid Movie to Release July 2011

MGS4Now, our head’s saying fake but our Kojima side is saying real. Quite frankly, we dont know what is real anymore.

According to PS3-Center, the picture after the jump is something taken from Sony Pictures in Culver City, Los Angeles. That something is, apparently, the movie poster for Metal Gear Solid. A MGS movie was confirmed a long time ago, two years ago infact, but since then we havent heard a peep other then the David Hayter controversy last year.

But now, with Konami promising a week full of announcements concerning MGS4 and MGS, this could seem plausable. The poster shows a date of July 2011 as a release date for the movie. Also, according to them, Solid and Liquid Snake have been casted already: Christian Bale (The Dark Night, Terminator Salvation) as Solid Snake with Bale long tipped for the role alongside Viggo Mortensan of The Lord of the Rings and Kiefer Sutherland of 24.

Liquid though has been casted by someone who we didnt see coming: Daniel Craig (Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Munich). And if you look really hard, it looks like a ninja which may confirm the movie is a big screen version of Shadow Moses. Again, take with a pinch of salt and put it down as rumor as we dont think the logo should look alot like the first game, plus it does reference Hideo Kojima which you’d think would be in the small print of the poster.

Picture is after the jump.

CONFIRMED: Metal Gear Solid Announcements Coming All This Week

Posted in PlayStation 3 with tags , , , , , , on June 15, 2009 by Jonathan Cullen

MGS4Konami’s confirmed that Metal Gear Solid related news will be announced all this week.

But should 360 owners be on their guard for a MGS4 port announcment? No, game announcements have come and gone from KP at E3 in Rising. However, if we were betting people, the biggest announcement would be for trophies at the end of the week.

Two things were already announced, which was Metal Gear Solid coming to the PS Store this week and a update to Metal Gear Online which includes a new map for any owners of the Scene expansion plus more. They’ll take place in the wake of the first birthday of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which was last week. But either way, this will end up being hyped to the biggest announcement of them: trophies.

Either way, dont expect anything on Rising during this week.

We expect the first of these announcements tonight on the PS Blog, when we dont know.

Just one thing: why didnt this take place last week when it was Metal Gear Solid 4’s one year anniversary?
