CONFIRMED: No Co-Op in Killzone 2
Gurreilla Games have confirmed to GOONL!NE as well as PSU that Killzone 2 will not have co-op in the game, be that on release or in a patch released after the launch of the game. It comes after we brought news last night that a NEOGafer went to CES last week with a rep from GG confirming that co-op would be patched soon after the release of the game.
And in an exclusive interview with PSU, game director of Killzone 2, Mathijs De Jonge said:
“Currently there are no plans for co-op in Killzone 2.
Technically it would be quite difficult to implement it for the story mode as for example the mission sections are loaded in seamlessly – no loading screens , and that would cause issues with teleporting players. Even without co-op it’s still a big game and gamers will have plenty to sink their teeth into.”
And to be fair, he has a point. A beefy Single Player and one of the best multiplayer’s since COD4 as our hands on shows.

Not that it reallty should care.
Mathijs (De Jonge) raises a good point in that PSU interview.
While it would have been great to have co-op in the game, it is still a “big game” with what should be a great story and in my opinion, the best mutliplayer I have seen since Call of Duty 4.

This is unfortunate. It is possible however that they are just instructed to say it wont be there for the time being even though they are still looking into options for making that a suprise possibility. However, it probably wont happen 😦 I will definately get this game still though and those that wont are just crazy! Co-Op is great but this game is going to be tits!

Very disappointing, they should have made an effort to develop it in a way so that it could support co-op. It will effect sales, it’s dampened my enthusiasm for the game.

I know where in a new era of gaming with large emphasis on online play, but guess what, I still have RL friends who I would love to play with in the same friggen house. Lack of on console Multiplayers options is making games like killzone a disappointment. I have yet to buy a game that reads: 1Player(60 online)

Played the demo….looks nice, but I will not buy it with no co-op.
