Characters. Avatars. People. All designed by developers to have their own distinct body, face, style and personality. But what happens when two characters look rather too similar? Go Online tracks them down and makes a list. That’s what! So sit back and enjoy, as we scroll through the families the gaming industry don’t want you to know about. There’s also a lot of hats.

GDC 2009: RUMOR: Gears of War 2 Single Player DLC on the Way
Posted in GDC 2009, Xbox 360 with tags DLC, Epic Games, Game Developers Conference 2009, GDC 2009, Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Marcus Fenix, Xbox 360, Xbox Live Marketplace on March 25, 2009 by Jonathan CullenGears of War 2 ended on an anti-climatic ending until the end of the credits when… well, we wont say as it’s really big but it did still leave a lot of gamers pissed as to what would happen next for Gears 3. But hold the phone folks, maybe we dont have to wait for Gears 3 to get our answer, we may get it in the form of our lovely friend known as Downloadable Content.
According to a forum thread on the Epic Games website, now taken down, a listing has come up on the Japanese Xbox Live Marketplace website on Xbox.com where it shows a listing for DLC for Gears 2, known only as Dark Corners.
Okay, this could still be downloadable content for the multiplayer of the game but Episodic Content has been rumored for Gears 2 for a while now, and some pretty big announcements are due this week at GDC concerning Gears 2, most probably from GTTV and Geoff Keighley where he hinted at some pretty big announcements at GDC for GameTrailers TV this week.
We would post such proof of this but like we said above, the said thread has been deleted from Epic Games forums, and it seems that other sites arent carrying the story. We’d try and grab a screen ourselves but we cant read Japanese so oh well.
Still, we should know what Dark Corners is by the end of the week.
Gears of War 2 was, timingly enough, announced this time last year at the end of John Schappert’s keynote addrees at GDC 2008 in February 2008. It also had Cliff Bletzinski of Epic Games come out and scare everyone with a big chainsaw Lancer.
RUMOR: Gears of War 3 in Development
Posted in Xbox 360 with tags Cliff Blezenski, Epic Games, Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3, Marcus Fenix, Microsoft Games Studios, Xbox 360 on December 9, 2008 by Jonathan CullenGears of War 2hasn’t been out the door long, it’s already sold 3 million copies worldwide and even yet, it seems pre dev for the sequal is underway.
According to EGM’s Quaterman, Gears of War 3 is in development already by Epic Games for the Xbox 360 (and not for the PLAYSTATION 3 like a couple hoped for). Already, it’s been said there will be a couple of tweaks for the gameplay engine and there will be infact a massive 5 player co-op experience, be it a improved verison of either Horde or an entire new campaign altogether remains to be seen.

CliffyB: Gears of War 2 Will Be Better Then Resistance 2
Posted in PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 with tags Epic Games, Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Insomniac Games, PlayStation 3, Resistance 2, Xbox 360 on August 8, 2008 by Jonathan CullenNow, for anybody who has a 360, anybody’s 360 collection can not be complete alongside Halo 3, Mass Effect and Call of Duty 4 without a copy of Gears of War. Its story was great and it’s 4vs4 multiplayer was absoutely brillant, one of the best multiplayer games I enjoyed last year along with Team Fortress 2.
And now, on November 7th, Gears of War 2 will ship exclusively to the Xbox 360 with the continuing saga of Marcus Fenix against the Locust with 2 player online co-op also returning for the story mode, 5 man co-op mode where you take on an unlimited amount of locust which get harder and harder with each horde and finally, 5vs5 multiplayer.
But at the exact same time (Maybe even in the exact same week), there is another big hitter coming out on the PLAYSTATION 3 which is Insomniac’s Resistance 2. Both games came out shortly after each other and while the Xbox 360 had an established userbase by nearly a year, the PLAYSTATION 3 only came on the market in America a week after the release of the game.
Now, 2 years later, both these sequels will go head to head once again with both consoles now able to stand on their own two feet. But even then, Lead Designer at Epic Games, Cliff Bleszinski says that Gears of War 2 will be better then Resistance 2.
How?
